We are looking to immediately expand our technical team to include a dedicated, hardworking microbial engineer with specific skills in genetic manipulation of microorganisms and evaluating their response.

Qualifications

The primary requirement is to have demonstrable hands-on experience in microbial engineering, genome editing of bacteria or yeast. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in molecular biology and microbiology and understand microbial metabolic processes. Additional, highly-desirable skills include data analysis, hypotheses generation and troubleshooting. The job requires extensive collaboration as well as independent execution of the design and work in a fast-paced work environment. Educational qualifications include a Bachelor’s (with 2 – 3 years of hands-on experience) or Master’s degree (with at least one year of hands-on experience) in relevant scientific discipline (e.g. Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry, etc).

Key responsibilities include: Construction and cloning of plasmids using advanced genetic tools (e.g. Gibson assembly and Golden Gate); Alteration genomes of specific microorganisms using homologous recombination, Crispr-Cas9 etc, Expression of recombinant proteins in yeast and bacteria; Following established SOPs and procedures for molecular biology techniques including DNA preps and high throughput cloning and screening; Participation in general lab duties such as preparation of media, buffers and other reagents; Analysis of gene and protein expression levels using techniques such as qPCR, SDS-PAGE, Western Blot or ELISA; Compliance with safety and quality guidelines, regulations and training procedures; Analyze and interpret experimental data and prepare reports for presentation; Effective oral and written communication and data recording
